DONE DEAL: West Bromwich Albion Confirm Agreement With Europa League Winner Until 2029

Ryan Mason, the Europa League-winning assistant coach, is aiming to deal a blow to Southampton by targeting striker Lawrence Shankland.

A few weeks back, Southampton appeared to be front-runners in signing Hearts’ striker Lawrence Shankland. His age and status as a free agent made him an appealing target for the Saints, but progress in the transfer has been slow.

Considering that one of English football’s hottest forwards is available at a bargain price, any further delays could prove costly for Southampton.

However, it’s not just speculation—former Tottenham Hotspur assistant Ryan Mason is making a bold move to sign Shankland. According to The Scottish Sun, Mason wants to make an immediate impact at West Brom by securing the Scottish striker.

Lawrence Shankland Possibly Slipping Away From Southampton

It’s important to note that West Brom will be Southampton’s rivals in the Championship next season. If West Brom get off to a strong start, they could challenge the Saints for promotion. In other words, the striker Southampton want might end up leading the attack for their closest competitors.

Action is required now if Southampton’s manager, Nathan Jones, has approved the signing of Shankland. Otherwise, the club may look to bring in new forwards during the latter part of the transfer window.

If that’s the case, other options like William Boving could be useful for both now and the future. Additionally, Jay Robinson might be an outside bet to make his breakthrough in the Championship.

Attackers tend to excite the fans, so let’s hope whoever Southampton signs will have a successful season.
