Duke Recruiting: A Sudden Tug-of War With UNC?
Joaquim Boumtje Boumtje could, quite quickly, spark a major recruiting battle between Duke and UNC.\
ver the decades, Duke and UNC have often gone head-to-head for talented young players. Just think back: Art Heyman flipped to Duke at the dawn of the Vic Bubas era. Danny Ferry was a huge UNC target, then Duke got involved. Bobby Hurley, Grant Hill, Christian Laettner, and Jason Williams all used to be UNC fans. Shane Battier was a huge UNC target.

More recently than any of those, Harrison Barnes looked like a Duke lean for a long time.
This hasn’t happened for a good while, but Duke and UNC may both be pitching woo to a Euro big man, Joaquim Boumtje Boumtje.
Duke Blue Devils offer scholarship to Kon Knueppel’s brother
Kager is completing his junior year of high school, so he’ll have one more year at that level before going on to play college basketball.
During the winter, Kager was listed at 6-foot-9, so that 6-10 mentioned above appears that he has continued growing — much taller than his brother Kon.

Kager is the second of five brothers, with the younger bros named Kinston, Kash and Kidman.
He plays for Wisconsin Lutheran during the school season, and he was known already during the winter to have picked up an offer from Purdue.
Kager’s first scholarship offer had come from Toledo — he’s the nephew of Rockets head coach Tod Kowalczyk.
You’ve got to think Duke will be in the mix at the end, although it’ll be up to Kager whether he wants to follow in Kon’s footsteps or blaze his own trail.
