Rangers Reportedly To Sign Polarizing Yankees Star Infielder After Disagreement Coach
Three years after winning the World Series, the Texas Rangers are going through some major issues. The 2026 season has been a letdown, and despite their real chance of making the postseason in a weak AL West, they are on the outside looking in.

For the 2026 Rangers, things might be over, if not on the cusp of being so. But for the 2027 and beyond Rangers, there’s room to improve. Adding more help in their infield, especially if it’s a left-handed hitter, would be a major upgrade for this club.

Bleacher Report’s Joel Reuter is predicting the Rangers will add such a player in the upcoming offseason. The player Reuter is predicting will sign with the Rangers is polarizing New York Yankees infielder Jazz Chisholm Jr.Rangers predicted to sign polarizing Yankees star infielder in free agency image

Rangers predicted to sign Jazz Chisholm Jr.
“Finding a clean landing spot for Jazz Chisholm Jr. is not easy, but he would give the Rangers the boost in athleticism and left-handed pop they are lacking, albeit at a premium price,” Reuter writes.

Chisholm is sure to demand a lofty contract this offseason, and while the Rangers might be looking for ways to shed money, if they’re willing to spend, Chisholm is a high-risk, high-reward addition.

He’s a two-time All-Star who is just 28 years old and has 30-homer power and 40-stolen-base potential as well. This season, he has 40 stolen bases and 19 homers, but a year ago he hit 31 homers and stole 31 bases.

The only issue is that he’s been fairly inconsistent, as his .715 OPS this season is below average, while his .813 OPS last season was well above average.

For the Rangers, and any team showing interest in Chisholm, they will need to ask themselves: Which version of Jazz Chisholm Jr. are they going to get?

If it’s the 2025 version, a massive contract would be well worth it. But if it’s the most recent version of Chisholm, then a major contract, like Reuter is predicting the Rangers will have to hand out this offseason to land Chisholm, could be a mistake.

Still, the upside with Chisholm, an infielder with great power and base-stealing ability, is something that would be a major help to the Rangers. It would just be a very risky move.
