The striker went a few games without a goal with punters questioning his form dip
Kyogo feels Celtic’s recent slump is due to other Premiership teams upgrading their defensive organization.
Earlier this season, the Hoops striker went uncharacteristically seven games without scoring for his team. The prolific hitman’s form was called into doubt, with some analysts even claiming manager Brendan Rodgers’ adjustments were to blame for the Japanese ace’s inability to find the net.
However, Kyogo revealed in a magazine piece in his hometown that his team stuttered in games against Kilmarnock and Hearts because the opposition in Scotland improved their defense of the champs.
The attacker believes that some have figured out how Rodgers and his teammates intend to play and have reacted accordingly.
“At the beginning of the season, our attacking play was working well as a team, but now the opposing teams have taken better measures,” the coach stated.
“We were forced to try to break down teams in front of their goal, but we then conceded a lot of goals on counter-attacks and set-plays.” In such a case, how do you break down the opponent’s defense?
“This has always been an issue at Celtic, but now it has emerged as an even bigger problem this season.”
