One of the hotter names in the Philadelphia Phillies’ prospect pipeline is that of Gage Wood, who was ranked as the fourth-highest prospect in the farm system earlier in the season. Following his stellar performances with the Clearwater Threshers in Single-A ball, Wood was promoted to Philadelphia’s Double-A affiliate, the Reading Fightin Phils, earlier in the month, which coincided with his ranking on MiLB.com’s prospect page rising to the second rank behind Aidan Miller.

Making a jump like this could take some adjusting to for some players, but it doesn’t appear to be that way for Wood, as he took to the mound against the Portland Sea Dogs for his first start with Reading.
