The Dutch midfielder has arguably been the Lions’ most important player since the beginning of last season and Edwards is keen to keep him at the top of his game
In order to ensure that Zian Flemming is as involved in Millwall’s attacking moves as possible, Joe Edwards has disclosed his strategy.
In his 60 Millwall appearances since joining from Fortuna Sittard in the summer of 2022, the 25-year-old has 19 goals and 5 assists.
Since joining the team, the Dutchman has been a revelation, and Edwards wants to make sure Flemming stays at the forefront of the Lions’ future endeavors.
“Zian’s a key player; I think he’d be a key player on a lot of Championship teams,” the incoming manager stated on Millwall TV. First of all, objectives are very important to every team.

You see it with teams at the very highest level. Goals are crucial, and you can talk about ideas of how to create goals, but if you have players with a proven track record, then it’s massive.

“All you have to do is look at Zian’s stats from the previous season, including how many and what kind of goals he scored. Providing him with high-quality ball play in the middle of the pitch will allow him to surround himself with people with whom he can connect, but more importantly, it will enable us to attack as a team and advance as a unit, preventing hurried, hopeless attacks and placing him in positions where he can have the biggest and most frequent impact on the game.
