Just In: 5 Free Agents West Brom Could Sign Including Top EPL Star ft Nathan Redmond
West Brom have room for two more first-team players as Ryan Mason prepares to take his side into the meat and bones of the 25/26 Championship season.
The Baggies are among the early pace setters in the second tier, in what is Mason’s debut season in charge at The Hawthorns.
Albion have established themselves as perennial top-half/promotion contenders since their 2021 relegation from the Premier League, but have only finished inside the play-offs in one of their four Championship campaigns since dropping out of the top-flight.
However, Mason’s men look to be well equipped to give it another good go this term, but may just require a little bit more quality and depth in certain areas if they are to finally end their Premier League exile.
With 23 players registered from a maximum of 25, West Brom have room for two more senior players in their squad if they wish.
As such, Football League World takes a look at five current free agents that Albion could consider signing.
Josh Dasilva
West Brom aren’t blessed with strength in depth in the heart of midfield, and with Mason looking to implement a possession-based approach, that’s far from ideal.
Jayson Molumby and Alex Mowatt represent two quality and proven Championship performers in central midfield, but behind those two, Albion only have Man United youngster Toby Collyer and the out-of-form Ousmane Diakite respectively to call upon as natural options.
Therefore, adding Josh Dasilva could be a real shrewd piece of business by West Brom.
The 26-year-old last kicked a ball in anger back in January 2024, after suffering a significant knee injury during training that required surgery, before being released by Brentford this summer.
Prior to that, however, the former Arsenal and England youngster was an integral first-team star for the Bees, making 36 Premier League appearances for them in 22/23, whilst also having played an essential role in helping the club win promotion to the top-flight in 20/21.
Once fit and firing again, Dasilva could quickly become a class above at Championship level, and could prove to be a superb signing for West Brom.
Rick Karsdorp
Right-back looks like it could be a real problem position for Albion this season, and one that they may still need to address.
Centre-back by trade George Campbell was deployed there in the 2-1 defeat to Middlesbrough, and put in his worst performance in an Albion shirt since signing for them this summer.
Meanwhile, Alfie Gilchrist and youngster Alex Williams are the only other options there, and so Mason may need to act before the January transfer window to prevent a real weak spot in his backline from developing any further.
Rick Karsdorp could be an excellent solution, however.
