La Familia will host the Syracuse alumni team, Boeheim’s Army, at Historic Memorial Coliseum this afternoon.
La Familia defeated The Ville 2-1 in a best-of-3 series in the opening round of The Basketball Tournament, while Boeheim’s Army defeated the Seton Hall alumni team 2-0 in its opening round matchup.
Boeheim’s Army has been led by forward Cole Swider, the 6-8 forward who played for Syracuse during the 2021-2022 season. Swider is averaging 21.5 points and 10.5 rebounds for Boeheim’s Army during the first two games. La Familia will also have to contend with another strong frontcourt presence in 6-10 center Kaodirichi Akobundu-Ehiogu, who is averaging 15.5 points per game while making 15 of 16 shots in the first two games to go along with 8 rebounds per game.
Wesley Johnson, the former All-American and top-5 pick from Syracuse, is expected to play today after missing the first two games.
The winner of today’s game earns a spot in the Alumni Bracket championship.
