BREAKING: TYRAN STOKES DROPS BOMBSHELL AND FINALLY REVEALS WHERE KENTUCKY STANDS IN HIS FUTURE PLANS

Mark Pope may be pursuing a backup plan overseas in case Malachi Moreno leaves

Death, taxes, and NBA Draft decisions. These are the nonnegotiables in the life of every college basketball fan, and the BBN is feeling this in full-force as everyone in the bluegrass state waits around for Malachi Moreno to make his call.

Kentucky Wildcats head coach Mark Pope gives encouragement to Kentucky Wildcats center Malachi Moreno (24) in the second half at Rupp Arena in Lexington, Kentucky Nov. 4, 2025.

The threat of Moreno actually leaving has never looked more realistic than it does right now, and the result for Kentucky’s roster would obviously be panic-worthy. Yet, in the (still not entirely likely) case that Moreno does leave, Mark Pope may already be on the prowl for a proper backup plan.

Per BigBlueDylan, Croatian big Michael Ružić is getting set to announce his commitment sooner rather than later. And while BYU has been seen as the apparent heavy favorite, Kentucky remains involved. Things could get hot with this one if Ružić’s decision stretches out to the end of this month and overlaps with Moreno’s own draft choice.

We could be in for a hair-splitting ride, BBN. Fasten your seatbelts.
