The latest transfer news sees Sunderland linked with a double deal now the window has officially opened.
Sunderland has been linked with two moves. The winter transfer window is now open for teams in the Premier League and the EFL.
The first player is Aldershot Town star Joshua Stokes, who is being watched by several clubs in case he decides to move in January. He moved from Sudbury to the club in the summer and has scored 15 goals since then. His team is currently 10th in the National League.
Reports say that Norwich, Ipswich, and Sunderland, all in the Championship, as well as Derby County, Charlton Athletic, and AFC Wimbledon, all in League One, have all been interested in signing the 19-year-old. Sunderland has also been linked to Charlie Cresswell, a defender who used to be on loan at Millwall but is now at Leeds United. The center-back is having a hard time getting playing time under Whites manager Daniel Farke.
Several times in the last few transfer windows, Sunderland has been linked with Cresswell. The player could leave Elland Road during the winter window, with former loan team Millwall and league rivals Middlesbrough both being interested.
The 21-year-old centre-back’s chances have been few and far between under Farke, with the England youth international getting just four appearances in the Championship so far this season. Middlesbrough, though, have done recent loan business with Leeds after getting to sign Black Cats fan Sam Greenwood under the Black Cats’ noses last summer.
Cresswell is said to be open to a move away from Elland Road with Ipswich Town, Southampton and Rangers all charged with an interest in the highly-rated England under-21 international during the January transfer window, which opened on the first of this month.
