Celtic top man tipped for exit amid West Ham links: ‘If someone comes in with a £25m-plus bid, I’d like to think he will be off’..

In light of rumored interest from West Ham of the English Premier League, Celtic is expected to accept a £25 million offer for a crucial midfield player.

Matt O’Riley, a midfielder for the Hoops, has been strongly connected to a move south of the border during the January transfer window. Both Newcastle and the Hammers are expected to make an attempt to sign the player.

In fact, we made known last month that Eddie Howe was considering the player.

Furthermore, Alan Hutton, a former defender for Tottenham and Rangers, asserts that Scottish teams are forced to take such high salaries for their great players when teams from wealthier leagues approach them.

O’Riley is a Danish international, and Celtic is reportedly willing to pay £25 million for him, according to Football Insider, despite Brendan Rodgers’ desire to retain him.

The 23-year-old, who joined Celtic in January 2022 for a meager £1.5 million from MK Dons, has established himself as a staple of the midfield.

With a hand in 18 goals this season, O’Riley is, in fact, the club’s leading goal scorer.

Hutton is obviously a huge fan of the player, but he thinks Celtic will be forced to sell if an offer of about £25 million is made.

“I think it’s really important they keep him moving forward,” the Scot said to Football Insider. In January, the last thing you want is to lose any talented players.

“You can see he’s taken the lead and is a leader in that team, but I wouldn’t say they’re building the team around him.

“He accomplishes goals, maneuvers the field with ease, and satisfies every requirement of a contemporary midfield player.

“In my opinion, he will lose if a deal beyond £25 million is made when it comes down to it.

You can’t turn down that kind of money in Scottish football, that’s the way it works there.

You will have the chance to attempt to replace him if they are able to hang onto him through the summer.

However, since the league may depend on these players, they wouldn’t want to sell any of these guys.

Tuesday marks Celtic’s return to action as they play in the Scottish Premiership against St Mirren.
