3 free agent QPR should consider as Ainsworth looks to bolster attacking ranks

3 free agent QPR should consider as Ainsworth looks to bolster attacking ranks

QPR made a move for free agent defender Casey Shann on Wednesday and West London Sport reports they’re looking to add an attacker to their ranks.

QPR saw Chris Martin’s contract expire at the end of last season and while talks have been ongoing with him, it would be wise for the club to keep their options open as they bid to reinforce their attacking ranks.

With that said, here are three free agent strikers the R’s should have in mind…

Andre Gray

After being let go by Aris Saloniki at the start of this month, 32-year-old Gray will probably have plenty of options available in the UK and abroad. He previously notched 10 goals in 30 games during a spell with QPR and has 56 goals and 20 assists to his name in 146 Championship outings.

The Jamaican managed a decent return in Greece and could still prove a reliable option at this level.

Elvis Manu

While Manu would be more of a left-field option, he could be another worth keeping in mind.

The 30-year-old previously spent time on these shores with Brighton and Huddersfield Town but was most recently with Botev Plovdiv, for whom he netted 10 times in 18 games. He’s played and found success in Holland, Turkey and Bulgaria and could prove a shrewd free agent addition, although someone with more experience of the English game could be Ainsworth’s preference.

Lyle Taylor

Last but not least is Lyle Taylor, who shouldn’t be without a club for much longer. The 33-year-old has a solid goalscoring record in the Championship and League One and would bring heaps of experience to whoever he joins.

Taylor left Nottingham Forest at the end of last season but hasn’t been snapped up yet. He offers a solid presence at the top of the pitch and on a short-term basis, Taylor could be a good option for Ainsworth to keep in mind.
