‘Splendid’: Journalist now offers 5-word reaction as Sheffield Wednesday make club announcement

Sheffield Wednesday hailed for ‘splendid’ decision they just made off the pitch

Sheffield Wednesday have announced some major club news in the past 24 hours.

Sheffield Wednesday have enjoyed a positive December so far.

The New Year is coming and it’ll bring an end to what’s been a turbulent year to say the least, but after controversies in 2023, Danny Rohl is ending the year on a high for Sheffield Wednesday.

The Owls have moved off the bottom of the table and after three games unbeaten, with back-to-back wins, fans are really starting to fancy their chances of survival this season.

And a new hero has emerged alongside Rohl in recent weeks; Bailey Cadamarteri.

The 18-year-old striker has started the last three for Wednesday and grabbed his first goal in the win over Blackburn Rovers.

And to top of an impressive breakthrough, the academy graduate has signed a new deal.

Joe Crann reacts as Cadamarteri pens new Sheffield Wednesday deal
The length of Cadamarteri’s new deal has not been disclosed, but it’s thought that it’s an extension on his previous deal that expired in 2025.

So far this season, Cadamarteri has featured five times in the Championship and scored once.

He’s become an instant favourite among the fans and looks set to play a key role in Sheffield Wednesday’s fight for survival this season.

Can Cadamarteri nail down a spot in the Owls XI?
Right now, Cadamarteri is Rohl’s most dangerous no.9.

He’s energetic and gaining confidence and he really fits the pressing style of play that Rohl adopts.

But with Sheffield Wednesday looking like they’ll sign a new no.9 in January, it could push Cadamarteri out of the XI in favour of a more experienced striker.

Scott Hogan is a name being linked; he’s a tried and tested Championship striker and he could give Cadamarteri some strong competition in the second half of the season should he join.

Whilst Wednesday fans would love to see Cadamarteri fire the Owls to survival, patience is needed, and Rohl will have to manage his fitness and development correctly in order to start really fulfilling his potential.

But his new deal is a hugely positive bit of news, like Crann says, and it’s a good move for Cadamarteri who can crack on with his progression at Sheffield Wednesday.

The Owls are back on the road tomorrow night with a trip to Carrow Road on the cards; the Canaries currently sit in 13th and have lost just one of their last five in the league, drawing at home to Preston North End last time out.
