Jayden Quaintance left without a green room invite as NBA Draft stock starts to fall
Former Cat Jayden Quaintance may be in for an unfortunately long night at the 2026 NBA Draft.
The NBA Draft almost always features a little blue and white headed to the next level. Just this year, three former Wildcats faced off in the NBA Finals, with Karl-Anthony Towns and the New York Knicks eventually winning out. It’s the second year in a row that a Kentucky alumnus took part in a ring.

This year, though, Kentucky’s top prospect may unfortunately be in for a rude awakening on draft night. In spite of his vast potential, Jayden Quaintance’s draft stock seems only to be suffering as the draft gets nearer.
Per Jonathan Wasserman on X, Quaintance is one among a handful of surprising names without an invite to the green room on draft night.
For the uninitiated, the green room is an invite-only space where the biggest names of the draft are pooled, most often based on executive interest and the likelihood that they’re taken in the lottery. Anyone can be taken at any point, but the green room guys most often come off the board first.
Quaintance’s lack of an invite may be a telling sign that he’ll have his name called later than initially hoped. If that truly turns out to be the case, his lingering knee issue will certainly be to blame.
