Proposed Phillies Trade Sends Veteran Outfielder To The Rockies
For the Philadelphia Phillies this offseason, it was all about locking down their key contributors. Ranger Suarez, Harrison Bader, Kyle Schwarber, and J.T. Realmuto were all on the open market over the winter.
While the club would have liked to keep all of them, that was just not realistic. So, they settled on a five-year deal with Schwarber and a three-year deal with Realmuto while watching Suarez sign with the Boston Red Sox and Bader sign with the San Francisco Giants.
However, they were able to acquire some other names. Most notably, RP Brad Keller to help bolster the bullpen and OF Adolis Garcia, which could end up being a fantastic move if he can bounce back from a shaky performance at the plate last season.

Proposed Phillies trade sends veteran outfielder to the Rockies
With the addition of Garcia and the rise of Justin Crawford, one of the club’s top prospects, there is not much room for Nick Castellanos. Combine that with some of what went on last season, and it might just be better for both sides to part ways.
Philadelphia could release him, or they could see if anyone around the league is interested in his talents. Bleacher Report’s Tim Kelly believes the Phillies may want to reach out to the Colorado Rockies.
“Castellanos signaled a willingness earlier this offseason to play first base if that’s what a team wanted from him. The Rockies currently have left-handed hitters penciled in at DH (Mickey Moniak), first base (Troy Johnston) and right field (Jake McCarthy). Castellanos could get relatively consistent at-bats in a very hitter-friendly environment if he was willing to move around defensively.”

Castellanos couldbenefit greatly from the high altitude at Coors Field. He would also get some consistent playing time, something every player wishes for.
It may not be a contending team, but it could be Castellanos’ best chance to get at-bats on a day-to-day basis.
