MLB insider Jim Bowden recently identified Philadelphia as one of the teams to watch in the Valdez sweepstakes. Landing him would immediately stabilize the rotation and boost the Phillies’ chances of making a deeper postseason run, though the cost would be substantial.
According to Spotrac, Valdez’s market value is projected at roughly $199.9 million over six years. While the final number could come in slightly lower, any deal would still require a massive financial commitment.
