BREAKING: Phillies Make Bold Move Transfer Signing Shakes Up 2026 Quarterback Race

Evan Petzold of The Detroit Free Press has one name he’s calling for the Tigers to sign this winter. It’s a former Philadelphia Phillies, Toronto Blue Jays, and Baltimore Orioles flame-throwing righty who could be a nice complement to the rest of the bullpen in Detroit.

“The Tigers strengthened their weak bullpen by creating a three-headed monster with Jansen, Finnegan, and Vest for high-leverage situations in 2026.” Petzold writes. ” But they didn’t address their biggest problem. The bullpen still struggles to miss bats.”

With a need to add a strikeout-throwing reliever to the bullpen, Petzold calls out one option. “But there’s still one option in free agency. It’s Seranthony Dominguez.”

Dominguez is 31 years old and is coming off a solid 3.16 ERA season in 2025 across 62.2 innings pitched with 79 strikeouts and 36 walks with the Orioles and Blue Jays.

While he tends to walk batters more than one would like, his strikeout upside is worth the risk for Detroit, especially since he won’t be too costly and won’t be asked to be the closer, or even the third-best option in the bullpen.

Dominguez would make a lot of sense for the Tigers, as he’s a different style of pitcher coming out of the bullpen than the current trio of Vest, Finnegan, and Jansen.

His swing-and-miss ability is key for the Tigers, and worth a one-year contract in the $10 million range, as Petzold noted in this piece.
