Yoane Wissa States His Intension After Newcastle Offers £40m Fans Surprise
TBR Football understands that Newcastle United’s second bid for Yoane Wissa, worth £40 million, has been rejected by Brentford.
Following Alexander Isak’s bombshell social media post, Newcastle have continued work on trying to bring a new striker to St James’ Park.
As TBR Football has already revealed, the 28-year-old is seen as a replacement for Callum Wilson, who departed the club earlier this summer.
Now, the Magpies’ latest offer for Wissa has been rejected and their stance on continuing with the deal has been made quite clear.
Sources: Newcastle United not giving up on Yoane Wissa after second bid rejected
TBR Football’s Chief Correspondent, Graeme Bailey, understands that Newcastle United are not giving up on the signing of Yoane Wissa from Brentford.
Brentford want £60 million for Wissa, but with the striker refusing to train and pushing hard for the move, that figure will likely have to drop.
Dango Ouattara’s arrival at Brentford looked set to accelerate Newcastle’s deal for Wissa, but the Bees claim that he is replacing Bryan Mbeumo.
The West London club were well beaten by Nottingham Forest in their first Premier League match of the season, and they are keen not to lose any more of their stars.
Brentford look set for a tough season, having already lost Mbeumo, Christian Norgaard and Thomas Frank, which is why they are standing firm over their Congolese striker.
But so are Newcastle, and they are not giving up on a deal for him, despite seeing a second bid of £40 million rejected.
Yoane Wissa deal is delaying the potential Alexander Isak deal
TBR Football understands that whilst Wissa is replacing Wilson, Newcastle’s struggles to sign him are delaying the possibility of Isak moving to Liverpool.
The Reds could well make another move for Isak before the transfer window closes, although that is not expected to come until after Monday’s clash between the two teams.
Elsewhere, Aston Villa are open to selling Ollie Watkins if they are able to land Nicolas Jackson from Chelsea.
The Tyneside club have the England international high on their list of targets, and Watkins moving to St James’ Park could certainly speed up the striker transfer merry-go-round.
