Aaron Nola falters as Phillies fall 6-0 to Guardians
The Philadelphia Phillies were shut out 6-0 by the Cleveland Guardians on Friday night, as Aaron Nola continued to struggle on the mound.
Cleveland’s offense was powered by home runs from José Ramírez, Kyle Manzardo, and Angel Martínez. Martínez’s two-run homer off Nola in the fifth inning widened the Guardians’ lead to 3-0, following solo shots by Manzardo in the fourth and Ramírez in the seventh.
Four Guardians pitchers combined for the shutout, with starter Gavin Williams (3-2) tossing five innings, striking out eight and walking four. Daniel Schneemann and Carlos Santana also contributed RBI hits.
Cleveland has now won three straight and five of its last six games. The Phillies, whose three-game win streak came to an end, went 0-for-8 with runners in scoring position.
