BOOM BOOM!!! Kentucky Just Pulled Off A New Recruiting Heist That Has The SEC Buzzing
Well, that was brutal to say the least.
Kentucky Basketball’s game against the Auburn Tigers was a rollercoaster. It was a back-and-forth affair in the first half, with Kentucky gaining the upper hand late. Kentucky at one point looked like it could run away with it early in the second half, but the Tigers battled back and controlled much of the second half.
Kentucky looked like it might escape in the final few minutes, but the Tigers scored a putback with just one second left to secure a much-needed win for a team fighting to make the NCAA Tournament.
Here are a few things to know from tonight’s game.
Cats lose it late
Kentucky has had a couple of thrilling wins in the final seconds this season, but tonight, Kentucky was on the opposite side.
After a (very) questionable foul call on Collin Chandler on an inbound play, Auburn was able to get a putback and secure the win.
It was a heartbreaking way to lose that game when it seemed like Kentucky was in a good spot to escape with a win, but there were multiple opportunities for the Cats down the stretch that they didn’t convert on.
Regardless, that was a tough one to stomach.
Cats struggle after halftime
Kentucky has had a habit of slow starts this season, but the Wildcats got off to a better start in this one, shooting 46 percent in the first half and taking a 39-35 lead into the break.
Defensively, Kentucky held Auburn to 11-32 shooting in the first half, but the Tigers were 10-13 from the free-throw line.
Kentucky started the game pretty well, moving the ball to get good looks on offense, crashing the glass, and getting baskets at the rim.
However, the second half was a different story. The Cats came out strong in the second half, but after Auburn called a timeout about three minutes into the half, the Tigers were the better team down the stretch.
Another big night for Otega Oweh
It was another big night for Otega Oweh, as he led Kentucky in scoring with 29 points to go along with 7 rebounds.
Oweh came out strong early and established his game, driving through the heart of the Auburn defense and converting at the rim.
Oweh had a couple of big dunks too, including this one in the first half.
