BREAKING NEWS: Veteran Slugger Signs Mega Deal With Nation
The Seattle Mariners have a number of different routes to fill their opening at third base.
They could work to re-sign free agent Eugenio Suarez. They could move some pieces around internally, including Ben Williamson or Colt Emerson.
Or, they could hit free agency for a new face.
And one player who hasn’t come up at all was floated Wednesday as a new possibility.

The Seattle Times has reported that agent Scott Boras reached out to the Mariners about his client, Alex Bregman.
Bregman, of course, was the long-time star for the Houston Astros.
In 2025, Bregman played for the Boston Red Sox. He had signed a three-year, $120 million contract with significant deferrals in it, and he exercised his opt-out after one season.
It’s believed the Red Sox would like to have him back. The Detroit Tigers are also considered a front-runner.

Until now, there’s been no indication that the Mariners were even considering Bregman. They could’ve gone after him last offseason and seemingly chose not to.
He’s still a clutch hitter, a solid defender and a great clubhouse presence, so Bregman could work as a genuine acquisition if the Mariners are really in the picture. It seems like if Boras is reaching out to Seattle, he’s either trying to drum up a bidding war, or Bregman has expressed interest in Seattle.
Bregman is a good enough player that the Mariners should at least try to figure out what the scoop is. He would make their team better.
