West Bromwich Albion boss Ryan Mason has given an update on the fitness of midfield duo Toby Collyer and Jayson Molumby.
The pair suffered issues in Albion’s win against Preston North End earlier this month, causing them to miss the defeats against Watford and Ipswich.
The Baggies are back at the Hawthorns this weekend after losing twice away from home since their last encounter on home soil, as they welcome Sheffield Wednesday to the Black Country.
However, things aren’t looking up just yet for Albion’s sidelined duo, with Mason confirming that the pair aren’t ready for a return just yet.
Ryan Mason drops midfield injury update
“I don’t think they’re going to be back,” said Mason, via Express and Star. “Obviously Jayson had his injury with Ireland and then made it worse in our game against Preston.”

“Toby’s had three of those injuries at Manchester United last season. He’s a young boy. We need to push him, but we need to be careful because I think you can see the one or two injuries in our squad, we feel it from a numbers point of view.”
After a bright start to the campaign under Mason, Albion’s form has tailed off in recent weeks, with the Baggies picking up just one win in their last four, while Jack Clarke’s late winner saw Ipswich claim all three points on Saturday to make it three away losses in a row for Mason’s side.
“We’ve got a week to prepare. I don’t know how many players, if any, that we’re going to recover for next weekend.”
In the case of Collyer and Molumby, the midfield pair are both suffering from muscle issues, with Collyer suffering from a hamstring problem that has provided constant setbacks at his parent club, Manchester United.
