Departed West Brom defender released in summer suffering similar injury issue that hampered final Albion season

Ajayi began what would turn out to be his final year in an Albion shirt as a regular starter – before suffering a hamstring tear in October.

It was arguably the beginning of the end for the Nigerian international – who would play just twice more before again suffering a hamstring setback.

He did return as a second half substitute in the final game of the season as Albion signed off the 24/25 campaign with a 5-3 victory at home to Luton Town.

Despite his lack of playing time due to injuries last season – Albion did make a play to keep Ajayi at the club.

He was offered a contract extension on reduced terms but decided against taking up the deal in favour of searching for a new club.

Back in the summer he signed a two year deal with Hull City – and looked likely to become a key player for The Tigers this season.

He started their first game against Coventry – but was immediately hit by an injury that became his downfall in the final year at Albion.

He went off with a hamstring problem in the opening day draw – and has not featured in any of their games since.

And it looks likely that he will now be sidelined for the Tigers until after the next international break – another injury setback for the former Albion promotion winner.
