Cincinnati Reds Announce Five Roster Changes Ahead of Tonight’s Historic Game
The Cincinnati Reds are set to take the national stage tonight in what Major League Baseball is promoting as a major spectacle. The game will be played at a specially constructed field inside a racetrack in Bristol, Tennessee — marking the first MLB game ever held in the state. With a crowd of over 85,000 expected, this high-profile event will feature a Reds roster that looks notably different from the night before.
Newly acquired players Miguel Andujar and Zack Littell, brought in before the trade deadline, have officially joined the team and are now active. Outfielder TJ Friedl has also rejoined the roster after spending a few days on the paternity list and a brief stint on the restricted list.
For marquee events like this one, MLB permits teams to expand their active roster to 27 players. As a result, while the Reds added three players, only two had to be removed from the active roster. Position player Connor Joe has been optioned to Triple-A, along with right-handed reliever Lyon Richardson. Both moves are retroactive to after the game on August 1st.
Littell, who last pitched on July 31st against the Yankees, isn’t expected to appear in tonight’s game due to rest. However, there’s a possibility fans could see Andujar make his debut in a Reds uniform during this nationally televised event.
