West Bromwich Albion Now Officially Announce The Departure Of Another Top

West Brom must not turn down £3.5m bid from the Saudi Pro League for underused midfielder

West Brom have had an interesting off-season, with Ryan Mason’s appointment the defining moment of their summer.

The addition of Nat Phillips from Liverpool was an excellent one, and he will help shore up a defence which lacked confidence in the final weeks of last season.

George Cameron will also be vital at the back, as the USA international departed CF Montreal for The Hawthorns, but it is Aune Heggebo who is the statement signing for the Black Country outfit so far in this transfer window.

However, West Brom now have a decision to make on Ousmane Diakite as Saudi Pro League side Al Qadsiah make an approach for the defensive midfielder.

West Brom must accept multi-million pound bid for Ousmane Diakite
According to Africa Foot, Al Qadsiah have made a €4m (£3.5m) bid for the 25-year-old, just a year on after he joined the Baggies from TSV Hartberg.

Supporters may want Ousmane Diakite to be given another chance

After just 855 minutes on the pitch in the Championship last season, Diakite was not given the chance to express himself on the holding midfield role enough.

West Brom were often overrun in midfield, and he brought a level of calm and a stronger foothold in the middle of the park compared to the other options at Corberan’s and Mowbray’s disposal.

However, with only a small sample size to work from, it is hard to predict whether Diakite would be the ideal player to feature in Mason’s team and if a new defensive-minded midfielder is brought in, he could find himself further down the pecking order.

The financial incentive of playing in the Saudi Pro League will be an attraction for any player and the Baggies must let the Malian have the opportunity to dictate his own future.
