Mutual Agreement Reached: Brentford Agree Double Deal For Liverpool Starlet

Brentford Finalize Double Signing of Liverpool Youth Duo Following Mutual Agreement

Significant changes are underway at Liverpool, not only within the senior team but across the club’s academy setup. A new U18s manager is expected to be appointed soon, and Rob Page has already been confirmed as the new head coach for the U21 side.

As fresh leadership steps in, a shift in coaching philosophy is anticipated, though the core values and principles of the Liverpool academy are set to remain consistent.

With new coaching staff, fresh talent is also expected to arrive, increasing competition and making the pathway to the first team even more challenging for current academy players.

Brentford FC have announced their list of new academy scholars for the 2025/26 season, and as reported by Lewis Bower, two of the incoming players are from Liverpool’s academy. Goalkeeper Layton Nicholls and left-back Nathaniel Ogungbemi have both completed moves to the West London club.

This isn’t the first time Brentford have recruited young players from Liverpool. In 2023, centre-back Kerron Samuels made the switch, while goalkeeper Ben Winterbottom joined in 2021. However, both have since left the club—Samuels was released this summer and Winterbottom departed after several loan spells, joining Barrow on a free transfer.

Nicholls and Ogungbemi will be hoping to make a greater impact than their predecessors. Despite the promise these young players showed, it’s always somewhat disheartening to see academy prospects depart.
