Manchester United are closer than ever to signing Bryan Mbeumo, following weeks of speculation and negotiations.
After an extended period of discussions, the club is on the verge of finalizing a deal to bring the Brentford star to Old Trafford.
Mbeumo has often drawn comparisons to Mohamed Salah due to his direct playing style, focus on end product, and impressive contributions in goals and assists. Former United defender Gary Neville has even described him as “perfect,” underlining just how highly regarded he is. United also had to fend off competition from Tottenham and Newcastle to lead the race for his signature.
Their initial offer earlier in June—£45 million plus £10 million in add-ons—was turned down by Brentford, who are holding out for maximum value for their key forward.
However, United returned with a revised bid over the weekend, totaling more than £60 million. This second proposal hasn’t been rejected, but Brentford’s response has now surfaced.
According to The Standard, the deal is now nearing completion. United’s latest offer is believed to include £55 million up front and an additional £5 million in performance-related bonuses. Brentford, however, are reportedly dissatisfied with the structure of the add-ons and are seeking to renegotiate them to ensure they’re more achievable.
Despite this final obstacle, it appears only minor details remain before Mbeumo becomes a Manchester United player—something that could be resolved quickly.
