Breaking News: New York Giants Overhaul Essential Aspect of Their Front Office

The New York Giants have restructured the ‘Player Engagement’ segment of their football operations personnel.

Darien Harris has been appointed by the Giants as Director of Player Engagement.

Harris, who had previously played as a linebacker for Michigan State and captained the team, was in the role of Assistant AD responsible for NIL strategy at Michigan State. He will collaborate with Usama Young, who is the team’s new VP of Player Engagement. Since the year 020, Harris had been a staff member at Michigan State.

Young was added by the Giants as VP of Player Engagement earlier this offseason.

The team is no longer employing Ashley Lynn, who served as Director of Player Engagement since 2021. Lynn was the first woman to be hired for the position in the NFL.

What does ‘Player Engagement’ mean? The NFL describes it as “a four-pillar approach to supporting NFL players and their families during their NFL experience and beyond: Continuing Education, Financial Literacy, Professional Development, and Personal Development.”

Player Engagement assists with various aspects, including helping rookies adjust to the NFL, aiding new players relocating from other areas to adapt to a new city, providing guidance on financial management, and supporting veterans nearing retirement in transitioning to life beyond football.
