BREAKING NEWS: JUST IN: Newcastle United’s Alexander Isak Releases Statement As Summer Decision Made

Alexander Isak, a Newcastle United striker, has withdrawn from Sweden’s June international squad.

Isak has been dealing with a groin problem, which kept him out of the recent trip to Arsenal. However, he returned to training last week and played despite the agony in the 1-0 loss to Everton.
Isak was scheduled to play for Sweden in friendly matches against Hungary and Algeria, but will instead spend the summer resting.

After the game, Newcastle head coach Howe remarked about Isak’s devotion to the black and white cause in the previous game, and how he had made it obvious that he wanted to play a role in the Champions League campaign.

According to Howe, he trained yesterday to ensure his fitness and availability. He hadn’t missed much football; he’d just missed a week.

Alexander Isak has already made his feelings clear on Liverpool amid transfer rumor - Liverpool.com

“When a player misses even a tiny period of time, they lose a little bit of sharpness in their game and believe that was the case.

“But credit to him; he made himself accessible because he wanted to play and make a difference. He got a few chances in the game, so I was delighted that he was so eager to participate.”

Newcastle will try to relieve Isak’s workload this summer by signing a fresh striker. With Newcastle going on a Champions League campaign and a slew of other games, United will need to sign a man to serve as a backup to the Swedish star.

Liam Delap has been touted as a prospective candidate. Newcastle has not ruled out a new contract for Callum Wilson, with talks ongoing over the out-of-contract player.
