Breaking News: Philadelphia Phillies Head Coach Rob Thomson Donated His Entire $4.2 Million Bound And Sponsorship Deal To Charities And Homeless Relief…

After Tuesday night’s game was postponed, the Phillies revealed their pitching plans for Wednesday’s doubleheader against the Cardinals — and there were no surprises.

Left-hander Jesús Luzardo, who had been scheduled to pitch Tuesday, will now start the first game at Citizens Bank Park. Right-hander Aaron Nola, originally slated for Wednesday, will remain the Game 2 starter for Philadelphia.

The Cardinals have yet to announce their starting pitchers. Sonny Gray had been the probable choice for Tuesday, while Erick Fedde was expected to take the mound on Wednesday before the rainout.

With St. Louis taking Monday’s opener, the two teams will now wrap up the three-game set with a split doubleheader on Wednesday. The games are set for 1:05 p.m. and 6:15 p.m. ET. The Phillies stated that tickets from Tuesday will be honored for the nightcap, and all gates will open at 5:15 p.m.

Luzardo has been outstanding in his debut season with Philadelphia following his offseason trade from Miami. He currently leads the National League in WAR (2.1) and boasts a 2.11 ERA over eight starts, with 47 innings pitched. The Phillies have won six of those outings. In a rotation stacked with talent, Luzardo has arguably been the standout.

Nola, meanwhile, continues to look for consistency. After starting the year 0-5, he rebounded with two solid performances before struggling again last Friday. Through eight starts, he holds a 4.89 ERA. While his strikeout numbers remain strong, he’s had issues with giving up home runs. Wednesday’s start gives him another opportunity to get back on track.
